Last week was unforgettable – for two very different reasons.<\/p>\n

First: I got married.
Second: I had what I like to call my \u201cwork bachelorette\u201d just days before the big day.<\/p>\n

That \u201cwork bachelorette\u201d took place at Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape<\/em>, tucked in the lush jungle north of Ubud, Bali. Together with four incredible journalists from the DACH region, I had the chance to immerse myself in one of the world\u2019s most unique hotel concepts\u2014one that lives and breathes barefoot luxury and deep connection to nature.<\/p>\n

We curated this press trip to reflect the very essence of Buahan: no walls, no doors, and a complete reconnection to self and surroundings. Joining me were journalists and editors-in-chief from Sch\u00f6n!, Reisen Exklusiv, Reisen Magazin, and ELLE. From open-air rituals to farm-to-table meals to jungle treks, the program was designed to slow us down whilst awakening the senses.<\/p>\n

    Participating in the Soul Freedom Journey<\/em>, a spiritual Balinese purification ritual beside a waterfall. We had to reschedule it due to heavy rain, but the experience the next day was all the more meaningful for it.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Meeting local farmers who supply Buahan\u2019s 70% plant-based kitchen. We tasted everything from tamarillo to wild ginger.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Falling asleep and waking up to nothing but the soundscape of the jungle: no windows, no walls, no distractions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    A Glimpse into Our Time at Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape<\/h2>\n

    Over four immersive days, we followed a carefully curated itinerary that balanced cultural experiences, wellness rituals, and moments of stillness:<\/p>\n

      Day One<\/strong>: After a warm welcome and dinner at the Open Kitchen, late arrivals were treated to an in-villa supper under the stars.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      Day Two<\/strong>: Our group began the day with foraging and an earthy Balinese cooking class, followed by a soul-soothing sound healing session and dinner in the open air.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      Day Three<\/strong>: We practiced yoga at dawn, explored Taro Village in vintage cars, and cycled through emerald rice terraces during Senja on Wheels<\/em>. The sunset ride was breathtaking.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      Day Four<\/strong>: The morning brought a Balinese script workshop and relaxing massages, followed by the Soul Freedom Journey, which <\/em>became a true highlight and powerful moment of stillness and reflection for all.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

      Group Takeaways<\/h2>\n

      Certain moments stood out as clear favorites among the group:<\/p>\n

        The Tri Hita Karana<\/strong> lunch, held in a local village, sparked rich conversations and left everyone with a deeper appreciation for Balinese values of harmony between people, nature, and the spiritual.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        The farm-to-table experience<\/strong>, where journalists helped select ingredients used in the evening meal, made a lasting impression.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Despite the challenge of the terrain, the Senja on Wheels<\/strong> ride was a visual feast and offered a true sense of place.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        The Soul Freedom Journey<\/strong> became an emotional and meaningful high point for many.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        It\u2019s hard to capture all that we tasted, learned, and felt on this short but powerful journey. <\/p>\n
